FES International, a global provider of fluid transfer systems, has announced a joint contract to supply a variety of its products for Duco and Wellstream aiding the development of the Athena oil field in the North Sea.
Worth almost $1M (£600K), the contract will see FES supply Wellstream with Diverless Bend Stiffener Connectors (DBSCs) and also provide Dynamic Umbilicals for Duco for development on the Athena oil field in block 14/18b in the Outer Moray Firth.
The Athena oil field contains 2p reserves (gross) of 24.4 million barrels of oil, and the initial consumption rate from this field is anticipated to be approximately 22,000 of barrels of oil per day. first production targeted for quarter four 2011.
The Athena field is being developed using FPSO vessel BW Athena which, after modification, will be deployed to a fixed mooring line and offloaded by tandem moored shuttle tankers.
FES DBSCs are designed to enable quick, efficient and cost effective installation of Riser and Umbilical Bend Stiffeners in often congested or confined areas. The latching mechanisms have been tailored and manufactured to fit Wellstream and Duco’s requirement, providing an automatic intervention which offers safer and more reliable connections.
Managing Director of FES International, Rob Anderson said:
“Duco and Wellstream have an excellent reputation and FES is delighted to be working with them to provide our expertise on both projects.”
“This development is a further affirmation of the quality of FES International’s products and services; the deal illustrates our capabilities to deliver timely and flexible solutions on a global scale.”
